Warranty Policy
Last updated: April 2026
GeoBrakes stands behind every brake part we sell. All products sold through geobrakes.ca are covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal driving conditions. This policy explains exactly what is covered, what is not covered, how to submit a warranty claim, and what you can expect from us when a genuine defect is confirmed.
Please read this policy carefully before installing any brake parts purchased from GeoBrakes. Installing a part confirms your acceptance of the conditions described in this policy.
1. Warranty Coverage
GeoBrakes provides a 1-year manufacturer warranty on all brake parts sold through geobrakes.ca. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that are present at the time of manufacture and that cause the part to fail under normal driving conditions within 12 months of the confirmed delivery date.
Defects covered under this warranty include:
Structural defects in brake rotors including casting voids, premature cracking not caused by overheating or misuse, and dimensional inaccuracies that cause vibration or pulsation under normal braking.
Material defects in brake pads including premature delamination of the friction material from the backing plate, abnormal glazing or hardening not caused by overheating, and compound inconsistencies that cause abnormal brake noise under normal driving conditions.
Defects in brake calipers including internal seal failures, piston binding or sticking not caused by corrosion from road exposure, and bracket dimensional errors that prevent proper installation on a factory-specification vehicle.
Defects in brake drums and brake shoes including casting defects, premature cracking, and friction material delamination not caused by misuse or overheating.
Defects in wheel bearings and ABS sensors including premature bearing failure not caused by improper installation and sensor faults not caused by electrical damage or physical impact.
2. Warranty Duration
The warranty period is 12 months from the confirmed delivery date of your order as determined by the tracking confirmation provided by our shipping carrier. Warranty claims submitted after 12 months from the confirmed delivery date will not be accepted under any circumstances.
3. What Is Not Covered
The following circumstances are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage. GeoBrakes will not accept warranty claims for defects or failures caused by or resulting from any of the following:
3.1 Normal Wear and Tear
Brake parts are consumable components designed to wear over time under normal use. The following are considered normal wear and not manufacturing defects:
Gradual reduction in brake pad thickness from normal braking use.
Surface rust or oxidation on rotor friction surfaces from normal exposure to moisture and road conditions. A thin layer of surface rust on rotors that clears after normal braking is not a defect.
Brake dust accumulation on wheels and brake components.
Brake noise during the first 200 to 500 km of use while new pads and rotors bed in.
Rotor thickness reduction from normal braking use within manufacturer minimum thickness specifications.
3.2 Improper Installation
Warranty coverage is void if a part fails as a result of improper installation including but not limited to:
Failure to properly torque caliper bolts, rotor hat bolts, or wheel lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
Installation without proper bedding-in procedure for new pads and rotors.
Contamination of brake pad friction surfaces with oil, grease, brake fluid, or cleaning agents during installation.
Installation of pads or rotors on a vehicle with seized caliper pistons, worn caliper slides, or damaged caliper hardware that was not replaced at the time of brake service.
Installation on a vehicle where the brake hydraulic system has not been inspected and confirmed to be in good working order.
Failure to replace brake hardware kits including caliper slide pins, clips, and anti-rattle shims at the time of brake service where recommended.
Reuse of worn or damaged brake components alongside new GeoBrakes parts.
GeoBrakes strongly recommends that all brake parts be installed by a qualified and licensed mechanic. If you choose to install brake parts yourself, you assume full responsibility for ensuring the installation is performed correctly and in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's service specifications.
3.3 Overheating and Thermal Damage
Warranty coverage does not extend to damage caused by excessive heat including but not limited to:
Rotor warping, cracking, or blue discoloration caused by extended high-speed braking, mountain driving without proper braking technique, racing, track use, or towing beyond the vehicle's rated capacity.
Brake pad glazing, burning, or complete material loss caused by excessive heat from the above conditions.
Caliper seal failure caused by overheated brake fluid transferring heat to caliper seals beyond their operating temperature range.
3.4 Racing and Track Use
This warranty does not cover any parts used in racing, competitive driving events, track days, autocross, drag racing, or any other motorsport activity regardless of the nature of the event or the speed involved. Brake parts sold by GeoBrakes are designed and warranted for normal road use only.
3.5 Modified Vehicles
Warranty coverage does not apply to parts installed on vehicles that have been modified in any way that affects brake system performance or component compatibility including but not limited to:
Suspension lift or lowering kits that alter wheel geometry or brake component angles.
Wheel and tire packages that deviate from factory specifications in diameter, width, or offset.
Performance engine modifications that increase vehicle weight transfer under braking.
Towing packages or load modifications that exceed the vehicle's factory-rated braking capacity.
Any modification to the brake hydraulic system including brake line upgrades, master cylinder changes, or brake bias adjustments.
3.6 Physical Damage
Warranty coverage does not apply to damage caused by physical impact including but not limited to road debris impact, curb strikes, accident damage, flood damage, or damage caused during storage or handling by the customer.
3.7 Corrosion
Surface rust on brake rotors is a normal characteristic of iron brake rotors and is not a manufacturing defect. Deep corrosion of rotor friction surfaces, caliper brackets, or slide pins caused by exposure to road salt, moisture, or chemical agents is considered environmental wear and is not covered under this warranty. GeoBrakes recommends coated antirust rotors for customers in regions with heavy winter road salting to minimize corrosion-related wear.
3.8 Incorrect Parts Installed
Warranty coverage does not apply where a customer installs a part on a vehicle for which it was not specified, including situations where the customer entered incorrect vehicle information at the time of purchase and the part installed is not the correct specification for the actual vehicle.
3.9 Parts Purchased From Third Parties
This warranty applies only to parts purchased directly through geobrakes.ca. GeoBrakes does not provide warranty coverage for parts purchased from third-party resellers, marketplaces, or unauthorized distributors.
4. How to Submit a Warranty Claim
If you believe a brake part you purchased from GeoBrakes has developed a manufacturing defect covered under this warranty, follow these steps:
Step 1: Contact our team within the 12-month warranty period.
Email sales@geobrakes.com or call +1 (416) 855-1496 during business hours, Monday to Friday 9AM to 6PM EST and Saturday 9AM to 4PM EST. Do not return the part before contacting us. Parts returned without prior authorization will not be accepted.
Step 2: Provide the following information with your claim.
Your original order number from geobrakes.ca.
The specific part you are claiming warranty on including the part name and SKU if available.
The date the part was installed.
The current mileage on your vehicle at the time of the claim.
A clear description of the defect or failure you have experienced.
Clear photographs of the defect including close-up photos showing the specific area of concern and wide-angle photos showing the part in its installed position.
Proof of professional installation if applicable — a receipt or invoice from the mechanic who installed the part.
Step 3: GeoBrakes will assess your claim.
Our team will review your claim and supporting documentation within 3 to 5 business days. We may request additional photographs, a video of the defect, or other documentation to support our assessment. GeoBrakes reserves the right to request that the part be returned to our warehouse for physical inspection before a warranty decision is made. If a return for inspection is required, we will provide a prepaid return shipping label.
Step 4: Resolution.
If your warranty claim is approved, GeoBrakes will at our discretion either:
Ship a replacement part of equal or equivalent specification to you at no charge, or
Issue a refund of the original purchase price of the defective part to your original payment method.
GeoBrakes does not cover labour costs, vehicle inspection fees, or any other consequential costs associated with the removal or reinstallation of a warrantied part. Our warranty obligation is limited to the replacement or refund of the defective part only.
5. Warranty Claims Versus Returns
It is important to understand the difference between a warranty claim and a return.
A return applies to parts that have not been installed and are being sent back within the 30-day return window as described in our Return and Exchange Policy.
A warranty claim applies to parts that have been installed and develop a confirmed manufacturing defect after installation within the 12-month warranty period.
Once a brake part has been installed on a vehicle it is no longer eligible for return under our Return and Exchange Policy. An installed part that develops a defect is handled exclusively through this Warranty Policy. Do not attempt to return an installed part as a standard return — contact us to initiate a warranty claim instead.
6. Limitation of Warranty Liability
This warranty gives you specific rights. You may also have other rights under applicable Canadian federal and provincial consumer protection law that vary from province to province.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, this warranty is the sole and exclusive remedy available to you for defective products. GeoBrakes is not liable under this warranty or otherwise for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our products or the failure of our products, including but not limited to vehicle damage, towing costs, rental vehicle costs, loss of income, or personal injury. GeoBrakes's total liability under this warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the defective part.
GeoBrakes is a retailer and is not the original manufacturer of the brake parts we sell. Our warranty obligations are fulfilled on behalf of the original manufacturer. GeoBrakes does not independently manufacture any of the products sold on geobrakes.ca.
7. Consumer Rights Under Canadian Law
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights you may have under applicable Canadian federal or provincial consumer protection legislation that cannot be contracted out of. Consumers in certain provinces may have additional statutory warranty rights beyond those described in this policy. If you believe your statutory rights have not been respected, you may contact the consumer protection authority in your province.
